One killed, 13 injured in accident

One person was killed and 13 injured when a jeep veered into a bus halt at the Mahabellana Junction in Panadura where an election campaign carried out by a political party was taking place on the opposite side of the road, Police said.

The injured were admitted to the Panadura Hospital and the condition of one was said to be critical.

The deceased was identified as a 49-year-old woman. (Sanath Desmond)
