No vehicles with garage numbers for campaigning

The Elections Department warned the candidates contesting the provincial council elections and their supporters to abstain from using vehicles with garage numbers in their election campaign.

“The law of the country prohibits the use of vehicles with garage numbers,” Additional Commissioner R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said.

The use of garage numbers is only allowed to be used by Presidential Security Division (PSD) vehicles. It was reported that several such vehicles
were illegally used in campaigning during the previous elections. (LSP)
