MR to brief Mahanayakes on Geneva session

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has accepted a meeting with Mahanayaka of the Malwathu Chapter Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Thera and Asgiriya Chapter Mahanayake Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkitha Thera to brief them on the ongoing Human Rights sessions in Geneva, the government announced.

This follows the letter sent by the two Mahanayakes to the President seeking an update about the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC session.

The letter also stated that although the government is continuing with the development work after eradicating terrorism, certain factions were forwarding resolutions against Sri Lanka at the Geneva HR sessions.

They also stated that such acts of certain factions were not acceptable.
