The number of people admitted to the Colombo National Hospital as a result of accidents on New Year’s Eve and the day before had been increased compared with last year, hospital sources said.

Hospital’s Public Relations Officer Pushpa Ramyani Soysa said 551 accident victims were admitted during the past two days.

“This is an increase of 20 per cent from last year. The number of road accidents reported was 135, which is an increase of 32 per cent compared with last year,” she said.
