Minister gets bail

Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage who appeared before Hatton Magistrate and District Judge Amila Ariiyasena in connection with the alleged assault on a supporter of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress was released on surety bail of Rs.50, 000 and personal bail of Rs.25, 000.

Watawala Police had filed action in the Hatton Magistrate’s Court against the Minister in connection with the alleged assault at Temples Torch estate in Rosella on August 05, 2013 during the Provincial Council elections.

Police told court that the supporter of the Ceylon Workers Congress who was injured in the incident undergone treatment at the Watawala hospital for several days.

The case was postponed for September 09, 2014. (Ranjith Rajapakse)
