Medical student knocked down by train

A 22-year-old female medical student was killed after she was knocked down by a train in Wellawatte, opposite the Ramakrishna Road this afternoon.

The second year undergraduate of the Sri Jayawardenapura University's Medical Faculty, and the daughter of a specialist surgeon attached to the Lady Ridgeway hospital, was knocked down by the Anuradhapura bound train travelling from Matara.

The body now lies at the Kalubowila hospital while the post mortem is due to be held tomorrow.
