A low voter turn out has been recorded islandwide from the General Elections as of one this afternoon, election monitors told Daily Mirror online.

A 40% turn out was recorded islandwide, Executive Director of PAFFREL Rohana Hettiarachchi said.

He added that 60 incidents of election related violence have also been recorded so far. “It has been quite violent with incidents continuing to pour in from all parts of the island,” Hettiarachchi said. (JN)
