The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) Colombo district candidate Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe today said that his decision to contest in the Western Province Council (WPC) election is an attempt to prevent unsuitable candidates from turning this PC polls into a spectacle.

Warnasinghe addressing a press conference yesterday in Colombo said that a group of unsuitable people who have no political idea or understanding about this subject are trying to break into the political field in the upcoming Provincial Council election.

“As a political party it is the responsibility of the JHU to create a political culture with standards. So through this election, we are going to launch a new political campaign which will counter the separatism that is arising in the country through the Northern Provincial Council (NPC). Today when the country is at a juncture where it is being pressurised by the international community, we will show that nationalist forces will go forward through this election,” Warnasinghe said.

Speaking further Warnasinghe added that he plans to contest along with the former WPC Minister Udaya Gammanpila and that they will carry on their election campaigns together. (Jayashika Padmasiri)
