Jeep-Train accident kills a sailor

A sailor was killed and five others injured when a jeep carrying Navy personnel collided with the Rajarata Rejini train this morning at the Jaffna junction railway crossing in Anuradhapura, police said.

The injured were admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

The wife and children of the Poonewa Navy Camp’s Commander were among the injured persons, police said.

The police said further investigations were conducting by both the Anuradhapura police and the Railway Department. (Upali Ananda)
