Internal cliques led to UNP’s defeat-Mangala

UNP Matara District MP Mangala Samaraweera said the certain internal activities within the party led to its defeat at Saturday’s local government election. Mr. Samaraweera told a news conference today that those who formed cliques within the UNP should reflect and see whether they organized the party in the grassroot level to face the election. “They who criticized the party should not have done it publicly and should have resolved issues within the party itself in stead,” he said.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said decisions with regard to the future of the party will be made at the next working committee meeting on August 17. (YP)
