A man was sentenced to six years hard labour and fined after he pleaded guilty to the charge of having possessed fake official seals of Divisional Secretaries, District Registrars and Registrars of Births and Deaths.

Badulla High Court Judge P. Wickramasinghe Mathurata also imposed a fine of Rs.30,000 on Dewayalage Surabiel Samarakone (60) who is a resident of Welimada in Nugathalawa.

He had previously worked as an office peon in the Kappetipola Vidyalaya at Welimada. (PA)
