Hambantota excise OIC nabbed with 242Kg of Ganja

The OIC of the Excise branch inHambanthota was arrested with 242 kilo grams of cannabis yesterday. The OIC was said to be transporting the Cannabis from Thanamalwila to Colombo and was arrested at a checkpoint in Pahalawa on his way to Colombo. According to source the OIC was involved in the smuglling of cannabis to Colombo where he would sell it to dealers for a high price.

The Cab and the OIC are now in Police custody. The Cab used to transport the cannabis also belonged to the Excise department. The suspect and the cab are to be produced before a magistrate.(Prasanna Pathmasiri)
