GL wants meeting on US report on LTTE

Parliamentarian Prof. G.L. Peiris today urged the government to take serious note of the US report, which claimed that LTTE’s international network of sympathizers and financial support continued.

He urged the government not to fall into the same trap twice, when dealing with the LTTE’s international network.

“The US State Department issued a report, which claimed that the international network of the LTTE was still active and financial support for the organisation persisted,” he said.

“At this level, we hope the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister will hold a special meeting immediately to discuss the issue, which had not happened so far,” Parliamentarian Peiris told a news conference held at Abayaramaya, in Colombo.
