Court orders video footage of Dewasiri attack

The Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued an order on eight television stations to submit their video footage of the May Day rally held in Kirulapone to facilitate the probe into the assault on Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri at the rally.

The Police said the Kirulapone police had launched an investigation into the incident.

A complaint was lodged by Dr. Dewasiri claiming that he was assaulted by a group of participants at a May Day rally organised by several left political parties in Kirulapone.
