Couple gets death sentence

A husband and wife were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court today after being convicted of trafficking 34.32 grammes of heroin in 2000.

The couple had been nabbed on May 1, 2000 at Etulkotte with heroin in their possession.

High Court Judge Preethi Padman Surasena passed the death sentence on the duo. State Counsel Maheshika de Silva prosecuted.
