BBS to be charged with defamation and trespassing

The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered the police to file charge sheets against Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Organisation General Secretary Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera and several other Buddhist monks in connection with two cases filed against them.

One case was allegedly trespassing in to the Nippon Hotel in Colombo and obstructing a media briefing organised by Jathika Bala Sena (JBS) while the other case was filed for making defamatory remarks against Quran opposite the Slave Island police station.

The monks were today asked to step into the defence dock for the first time by the Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage. The case was fixed for June 16. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
