Another Lankan caught smuggling gold

A 49-year-old Sri Lankan man was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) departure lounge last evening with 10 yellow gold nuggets worth Rs.1, 285,000 hidden in his rectum by the Airport Customs, Airport Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.

Mr. Gamini said, the nuggets were weighing 257g and were concealed in his rectum wrapped in three packets.

Customs confiscated the gold nuggets and imposed a penalty of Rs. 100,000 on the suspect. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
