Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage has been named captain of Sri Lanka A for the upcoming ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup T20 2025, scheduled to be held in Doha later this month.

The squad features a mix of promising talents, including Vijaykanth Viyaskanth, Sahan Arachchige, Milan Rathnayake, Ramesh Mendis, Nuwanidu Fernando, Nishan Madushka, and Pramod Madushan.

Several players have already represented the senior national side in recent months. Wellalage, Nuwanidu, and Madushka have featured in Sri Lanka’s white-ball matches this year, while Rathnayake made his Test debut against Bangladesh in June. Ramesh Mendis, meanwhile, last appeared in a Test against Australia in February 2025.

The squad also includes 20-year-old Vishen Halambage, who receives his maiden senior call-up, and Viyaskanth, who continues to impress in domestic cricket despite stiff competition from national spinners like Wanindu Hasaranga and Jeffrey Vandersay.

The ACC Rising Stars T20 Tournament begins on November 14, with Sri Lanka A placed in Group A alongside Afghanistan A, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh A. Their opening match will be played on November 15 against Afghanistan A.
