Wanted drug trafficker nabbed with semi-auto firearm at Habaraduwa beach hotel

A 59-year-old suspect wanted over drugs trafficking has been arrested by the STF Special Raid Unit at a beach hotel in Habaraduwa with a semi-automatic Chinese-made firearm.

The STF said the suspect, a resident of Habaraduwa was arrested after the STF was laying in ambush for three days.

The STF also seized two blank magazines used for semi-automatic pistol, an unregistered Yamaha 1000 cc motorcycle, a freezer truck, a KDH type Toyota van, 17g of heroin and Rs. 56,500 in cash during the raid.

The suspect was handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.(DSB)
