Colombo, May 6 (Daily Mirror) - The new Tamil Vettri Kazhagam administration in Tamil Nadu led by Tamil Cinema Star Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is likely to demand Katchatheevu Island which is currently Sri Lanka, opposition MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake told Parliament.

“Sri Lanka got Katchatheevu thanks to Late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. However Sri Lanka is likely to lose it as the newly elected administration in Tamil Nadu could demand it and it is also likely that the Sri Lankan government may give it up,” the MP said.

“We have been told that the contract for the preparation of digital national identity cards has been given to a South Indian company called Madras Securities. Biometrics of all Sri Lankans will go to this company from this move. The present government had already closed the tender. Those in the present government opposed this move when it was initiated by the previous government. Besides, it is those in the present government which held lectures on Indian expansionism back in 1970s” the MP said.

Meanwhile MPs who represent minority communities hailed the electoral success of Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar and expressed their best wishes to him. These included MP Mano Ganesan and Kadar Masthan who congratulated the South Indian Film star.
