Veyangoda Hettaya arrested over drug trafficking

A drug trafficker, Priyantha alias “Veyangoda Hettaya” has been arrested on possession of 5 grams of heroin in Veyangoda.

Police said the suspect was arrested for engaging in heroin trafficking in Gampaha and Veyangoda areas.

Investigations have revealed that the 41-year-old suspect had illegally circulated over Rs. 23 million through three bank accounts.

At the time of his arrest, the police also seized 48 bank cheques amounting to Rs. 9.8 million, 24 cheque books, four mobile phones, two swords and a luxury car.

Police said the suspect would be detained for 7-days for further questioning after being produced in court.
