Two trucks collide head-on on A9 road, four injured

Mankulam, Jan 25 (Daily Mirror) - Four persons were injured when two tipper trucks collided head-on in the area between Mankulam and Kanagarayankulam on the Jaffna-Kandy A-9 main road, Mankulam Police said.

Police investigations revealed that the two tipper trucks had been driven at a high speed and the accident occurred while one was attempting to overtake a motorcycle and was unable to control its speed.

The two riders on the motorcycle (a man and a woman) also sustained injuries and were admitted to the Mankulam hospital and later transferred to the Vavuniya Base Hospital for further treatment.

The drivers of the two tipper trucks were also admitted with minor injuries to the Mankulam Hospital.

The two tipper trucks had toppled during the accident.
