Colombo, May 12 (Daily Mirror)-Two more suspects arrested for allegedly arranging sureties for former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena, who was granted bail while in remand custody over the procurement of a fleet of ten aircraft for SriLankan Airlines in 2013, were ordered to be remanded till tomorrow by Colombo Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva today.
The two suspects, identified as Tissa and Ganesh, were arrested by the Keselwatta Police and produced before court.
Earlier, two other suspects, namely Mohamed Rizwan and Mohamed Irshan of Sanchi Arachchiwatte had also been remanded in connection with the same incident.
Police informed court that the third suspect, Tissa, had allegedly arranged the two men to stand as sureties, while the fourth suspect, Ganesh, had allegedly provided the money to Tissa for that purpose.
Presenting facts before court, officers of the Keselwatta Police stated that Chandrasena had been released on three surety bails of Rs. 100 million each, and that the four suspects were arrested for allegedly appearing as sureties after accepting Rs. 15,000 each despite having no connection or acquaintance with Chandrasena.
Court further ordered that the fourth suspect, Ganesh, be produced for an identification parade tomorrow.
