Two including Asst. Post Master arrested for sheltering Zahran, five others

Two suspects including an Assistant Post Master have been arrested by Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for providing shelter to Easter Sunday suicide attack mastermind Zahran Hashim and his group in 2018, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

They were arrested in the Kahatagasdigiliya and Kattankudi areas.

DIG Rohana said the 47-year-old Assistant Post Master of Mukariyagama in Kahatagasdigiliya had provided shelter to Zahran and five others.

The 35-year old man who were imprisoned in Batticaloa has been arrested on charges of spreading extremist propaganda and maintaining links with Zahran.

The spokesman said the suspects would be detained for further questioning.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
