Train engine collides with mini excavator on main line near Mirigama

Colombo, May 27 (Daily Mirror) - A train engine operating between Mirigama and Ambepussa was involved in an accident on Tuesday after colliding with a mini excavator engaged in signal maintenance work along the railway line.

According to initial reports, the mini excavator had been deployed for maintenance activities when the incident occurred, causing damage and disrupting operations along the busy corridor.

Authorities said one lane of the main road adjacent to the railway line remains obstructed as recovery and clearance work continues. Officials from Sri Lanka Railways have launched an inquiry into the incident.
