Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - A 21-year-old Thai youth arriving from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was detained by Sri Lanka Customs for attempting to smuggle in 'Kush’ Cannabis worth over Rs. 79 million through the Bandaranaike International Airport last night.
Customs Narcotic Control Unit officials at the BIA Arrival Terminal searched the passenger on suspicion and found 7 kilos and 900 grams of Kush carefully concealed in his bags.
According to Customs Spokesman Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda, a gram of Kush has a street value of Rs.10,000 in Sri Lanka.
The Thai national along with the drugs will be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for further legal proceedings.
