Tense situation at Gampaha District Hospital over alleged security negligence

Colombo, June 20 (Daily Mirror) - A tense situation was reported at the clinic complex of the Gampaha District Hospital as patients voiced their frustration over alleged negligence by the hospital’s security officers.

A video of the incident has been circulating on social media, showing patients engaged in heated arguments, reportedly over delays and disorder while waiting to obtain their prescribed medications.

Patients claimed that the hospital’s security staff had failed to properly manage the queues and address patient concerns, causing severe inconvenience, particularly for elderly individuals and those with chronic illnesses.

Eyewitnesses said that tensions escalated when some patients attempted to bypass others in the queue, leading to verbal confrontations among those waiting.

Hospital authorities have not yet officially commented on the incident.
