Colomob, June 15 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka A pulled off a dramatic Super Over victory over India A in the fourth match of the Tri-Nation A Series at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Monday, prevailing after a gripping contest ended tied at 265 runs apiece.
India A recovered from early setbacks to post 265 all out in 49.2 overs, thanks largely to a fighting 72 from Suryansh Shedge and a valuable 51 from Vipraj Nigam. A major talking point came before Sri Lanka A's chase, when India A were penalised 10 runs under playing-condition regulations, handing the hosts an unusual advantage before a ball had been bowled.
The chase was anchored by Sadeera Samarawickrama, whose brilliant 93 kept Sri Lanka A in contention throughout. The match went down to the final delivery, where a dramatic run-out left the scores level at 265, forcing a Super Over.
As daylight faded, confusion briefly surrounded whether a Super Over could proceed. Lengthy discussions involving umpires and players created tension, with both camps uncertain about the match's conclusion. Eventually, the tie-breaker went ahead under fading conditions.
Sri Lanka A then seized control in the Super Over, posting 16 runs. A controversial no-ball decision added to India's frustration, but the hosts maintained their composure. In reply, India A managed only nine runs as bowler Kugathas Mathulan delivered under pressure to secure a seven-run victory for Sri Lanka A.
The drama did not end there. Following the match, a heated confrontation broke out between India's teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka's Vishen Halambage, with teammates and officials intervening to defuse the situation.
