Student missing off Port City artificial beach

Colombo, June 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Harbour Police have launched an investigation after a 24-year-old university student went missing while bathing in the sea near the artificial beach at Port City Colombo on Thursday.

olice said the student, a resident of Gampaha, was part of a group of students from the Universities of Colombo and Moratuwa who had visited the artificial beach and engaged in snorkelling.

Lifeguards at the site later recovered the missing student’s snorkelling gear, prompting a search effort.

A joint operation was launched by the Police and the Sri Lanka Navy to locate the student.
