SriLankan Airlines’ newly acquired wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft completed its maiden commercial flight today, departing from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to Malé International Airport in the Maldives.
Deepal Perera, Head of Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines, the flight took off from BIA at 1:48 p.m. and landed in Malé at 2:23 p.m.
This brand-new aircraft was delivered from the Airbus manufacturing facility in France and arrived in Sri Lanka on the morning of June 4. Following the completion of essential international procedures, including official registration, the aircraft was cleared for commercial service.
The introduction of the A330-200 is part of SriLankan Airlines' ongoing fleet renewal efforts to enhance operational efficiency and passenger comfort on regional and long-haul routes.
