UAE beat Oman by 42 runs in Abu Dhabi in the first of the twin Asia Cup clashes on Monday (15). The result meant that India secured a place in the Super Four with a match in hand while making the UAE-Pakistan clash on September 17 a virtual knockout.

Oman opted to field first in this clash. UAE posted 172/5 riding on half-centuries from Muhammad Waseem (69 off 54) and Alishan Sharafu (51 off 38). Jiten Ramanandi (2 for 24) was the pick of the bowlers for Oman.

In response, Oman were bundled out for 130 with Junaid Siddique finishing with 4 wickets for 23 runs.

In the second match of the day, Hong Kong managed to post 149/4 against Sri Lanka with Nizakat Khan finishing on an unbeaten 52* off 38.

However, Sri Lanka managed to chase it down after a bit of a scare in the middle with 7 balls to spare. Pathum Nissanka top-scored with 68 off 44.
