Colombo, June 24 (Daily Mirror) - A special traffic plan will be in place in view of the upcoming Bohra convention, scheduled to take place on June 25, and from June 27 to July 5, at the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre, Police said.
Given the large number of devotees expected to attend, restrictions will be imposed on the movement of container trucks and tipper trucks along certain routes.
From 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the above dates, these heavy vehicles will not be permitted to enter D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha from the Gamini Roundabout, Darley Road and Maradana.
In addition, from June 27 to July 5, the Bohra Conference will be held daily at the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. During these times, the entry of heavy vehicles such as container and tipper trucks carrying stone or sand will be restricted from Wellawatte along Marine Drive through Bambalapitiya towards Kollupitiya and from Kollupitiya through Bambalapitiya towards Wellawatte.
Traffic along Glenaber Place in Bambalapitiya will be restricted and redirected to Marine Drive via Galle Road.
Entry to Adamaly Place in Bambalapitiya will be limited to residents only.
Police urge motorists to use alternate routes during this period.
