Somawathiya Chaitya road flooded due to rains

Due to heavy rainfall in several provinces, including the North-Central Province, the road leading to the Somawathiya Chaitya has been inundated, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

The DMC reported that the Sungavila area of the road is submerged under approximately 2½ feet of water.

The Deputy Director of the Polonnaruwa DMC also said that, at present, only tractors can traverse the flooded road.
