Sathosa reduces prices of essential goods islandwide

Colombo, June 17 (Daily Mirror) - Lanka Sathosa, the state-owned supermarket chain, has announced a reduction in prices of several essential consumer goods aimed at providing relief to the public.

Following instructions from the Department of Trade, Commerce and Food Safety, the revised prices will come into effect from tomorrow (18.06.2026) at all Sathosa outlets islandwide.

Accordingly, the price reductions are as follows (per 1 kg):

  • Big peas: Rs. 344.00 to Rs. 339.00
  • White raw rice: Rs. 199.00 to Rs. 196.00
  • Ponni Samba rice: Rs. 235.00 to Rs. 229.00
  • Red Nadu rice: Rs. 239.00 to Rs. 234.00
  • Samba red raw rice: Rs. 229.00 to Rs. 224.00
  • Wheat flour: Rs. 169.00 to Rs. 159.00
  • Local white Nadu rice: Rs. 209.00 to Rs. 204.00
  • White sugar: Rs. 219.00 to Rs. 217.00
  • White raw Samba rice: Rs. 240.00 to Rs. 235.00

The revised prices will be available at all Lanka Sathosa outlets across the country from tomorrow.
