SIU quizzes Shani and Thisera

The Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) had reportedly recorded statements from the former Director of CID SSP Shani Abeysekara and ASP B.S. Tissera last week in connection with the illegal departure of IP Nishantha Silva.

Sources said the SIU summoned SSP Abeysekara last Friday and recorded a statement from him nearly four hours.

IP Nishantha Silva, who served as the officer-in-charge of the Organised Crimes Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, left for Switzerland with his family last month without approval.
