Renowned artiste and comedian Berti Gunathilaka bids adieu

Veteran silver screen artiste and well known comedian Berti Gunathilaka has passed away at the age of 98 this morning.

He was born on August 2, 1924 in Ampitiya, Kandy.

Berti was notable for the role "Baba" he played in TV comedy sitcom Vinoda Samaya.

Gunathilake joined the Radio Ceylon in 1947 and presented the children's 'Lama Pitiya' program. Then he joined the radio play Vinoda Samaya along with Joseph Seneviratne, Vincent Weerasekera, Harriet Suraweera, Pitipana Silva and Sisira Kumara Manickaarachchi in 1948.
