President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is scheduled to inspect the country's first technology park near the Pinnaduwa entrance on the Southern Expressway in Galle on Thursday (17).
The construction of these technology parks aims to develop the technical knowledge and skills of the youth and empower them for the world in the future.
In addition to the technology park being set up in the Galle district, technology parks will be established in Kurunegala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Habarana.
Plantation Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said that these new technology parks will become a hub for the export of technical services to the national and international markets, giving priority to local innovations.
He also said that these new technology parks will in the future become the leading drivers of the country's economy and the hub for specialized business services.
The Minister said that in line with the government's vision of building a technology-based savvy society, new technology parks have been identified as a basic need, which will provide many direct and indirect employment opportunities to the people of the Galle District.
The construction of this technical park is being carried out under the supervision and consultation of the Central Engineering and Construction Bureau (CECB) with the assistance of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
This project is being implemented under the supervision of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development State Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
