Potta Naufer dies of COVID-19

Mohamed  Naufer alias Potta Naufer, who had been sentenced to death and was being held at the Boossa High Security Prison, has died from COVID-19 today.

Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said that Potta Naufer was also receiving treatment for a Kidney ailment.

A few days ago, he was taken to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for an examination for a kidney ailment and found that he was infected with COVID-19 following an Antigen Rapid Test.

He was then transferred to the Welikada Prison Hospital for further treatment and died of COVID-19 this evening.

Potta Naufer was sentenced to death for the killing of High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
