Police seize Rs.780mn illegal assets, properties

The Police Illegal Assets and Property Division has siezed Rs. 780 million worth illegal assets and properties, Senior Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said.

The seized assets include houses, vehicles, land, jewelry and frozen bank accounts.

He said 21 suspects have been arrested in connection with illegal assets and property and 1,100 such cases are being investigated.

Senior DIG Rohana said that in addition to taking action under the Inter-Dangerous Drugs Ordinance against the suspects arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau for possession of narcotics, separate investigations were also being carried out into their illegal assets.(DSB)
