Police gear up to tackle drunk, unruly drivers

A special plan of action will be initiated during the forthcoming festive season across the country to enforce the law against drivers violating traffic rules, the police said.

As such, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the police will arrest those violating traffic rules especially the drunk drivers during this operation.

He urged all drivers to be mindful to strictly adhere to traffic rules.

"The Police is planning to launch special operations during the forthcoming festive season, both at night and during the day.  It should be specially emphasized that drunk as well as speeding drivers who recklessly violate the traffic rules will be arrested and the law will be strictly enforced against them," the spokesman said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
