Plea from Govt. to general public

The Government today urged the general public to get themselves vaccinated as early as they can, as the highly contiguous Delta variant spreads like wildfire in the country.

In a statement, the Department of Government Information has requested the general public to strictly adhere to health guidelines and practices.

It highlighted the following instructions to be followed by the people in order to protect from the virus:

– Leave home only for essential purposes.

– Not to attend events such as weddings, funerals and festivities where people gather in large numbers.

– Always wear a mask when visiting public places and travelling outdoors.

– Avoid gathering in large numbers in rooms, halls, elevators and vehicles where there is a lack of ventilation.

– Always wash hands thoroughly with soap.

– Maintain a social distance of two metres when in contact with others.

– Not to leave home, except for work, if you have chronic diseases. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
