Plans to award liquor licences to super market chains in each polling division

There is a move to initiate a crash programme to award liquor licences to super market chains in exchange of Rs. 70 million from each applicant, SJB MP Buddhika Pathirana alleged today.

Mr. Pathirana who made this disclosure during a press conference of SJB affiliated Dushana Virodi Balawegaya said the move is to award liquor licences to  supermarket chain branches in each polling division
 
"A portion of the amount of funds received from liquor licences is to be given to either MP of the area or the for the former provincial council member or even the organizer of the ruling party in each constituency. Another portion of the fund is to be used to bribe those who oppose awarding liquor licenses, including the members of Buddhist clergy," the MP alleged.(Yohan Perera)
