Applications for GIT examination 2026 open until July 16

Colombo, June 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Examinations Department has called for applications for the General Information Technology (GIT) Examination 2026, which will be conducted for Grade 12 students in government and private schools.

According to the Department, applications will be accepted online from June 22 to July 16, 2026. Only students studying in Grade 12 in 2026 and who are expected to sit the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the first time in 2027 are eligible to apply.

The Department said all applications must be submitted through the respective principals or heads of schools. School authorities have been instructed to access the Department’s official websites and submit applications online after following the relevant guidelines. Individual candidates will not be allowed to submit applications on their own.

Applicants are required to use the usernames and passwords already issued to government and private school principals. A printed copy of the submitted application should be retained for future reference.

The Department further said that, in the case of private school candidates, examination fees must be paid only after all student details have been entered into the database, adding that no re-admissions or amendments will be permitted after payment.
