People never face gas scarcity, price revision by Sunday: LITRO

LITRO Gas Lanka Ltd. today assured that people will no longer experience a gas shortage in the country ever, and the next price revision will be announced by Sunday morning (6), LITRO Lanka Chairman Muditha Peiris said.

He told the media that the price revision would be announced after approval by the Finance Ministry.

We have noticed that some of our dealers were reluctant to buy and stock cylinders fearing the prices would be revised as per the price formula mechanism. 

Meanwhile, the chairman assured that people will never have to wait in queues to buy LP gas and payments for the upcoming gas shipments have been made in full.

"The real challenge is how we used to work on this criteria while finding the required dollars. I never felt any suspicion or fear that I would have to find adequate dollars," LITRO Chairman Peiris said.

We received help from the Central Bank Governor and its officials, including Presidential Advisor Sagala Ratnayake, he said.

However, we have sufficient gas stocks to meet the market's requirements. Due to the bad weather, the gas shipment that was due to arrive today has been delayed by two days. 

The chairman announced that LITRO Lanka has secured gas stocks for the next one and a half years.(Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
