Colombo, June 6 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a warning for sea areas around Sri Lanka, advising fishermen and naval communities to exercise extreme caution due to rough sea conditions and strong gusty winds.
Sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar are expected to become very rough at times, with wind speeds reaching 60–70 kmph.
Meanwhile, seas stretching from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaittivu and from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota will also be rough, with gusts up to 50–60 kmph.
Wave heights in sea areas from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota may rise to around 2.0–2.5 meters. Nearshore waters from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle may also experience sea surges.
Fishermen and naval personnel operating in the affected regions are strongly urged to remain vigilant and avoid risky sea ventures until conditions improve.
