Colombo, May 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that 5,267 people from 1,582 families have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island.
Issuing a statement, the DMC said that impacts have been reported from several districts, with people in 66 Divisional Secretariat Divisions affected.
Meanwhile, 200 houses have been partially damaged due to the bad weather, while one house in the Ratnapura District has been completely destroyed.
The highest number of partially damaged houses was reported from the Kalutara District, where 90 houses were affected.
According to district-level data released by the DMC, 25 houses each were partially damaged in the Batticaloa and Gampaha districts, while 22 houses were damaged in Ratnapura and 14 in Galle.
In addition, five houses each were partially damaged in the Colombo and Mannar districts, while four houses each were damaged in the Monaragala and Jaffna districts.
The lowest level of damage was reported from the Hambantota, Anuradhapura and Trincomalee districts, with two houses partially damaged in each district, the Disaster Management Centre said.
