Colombo, August 7 (Daily Mirror) - Eleven Indian tourists, including two women, were fined Rs. 100,000 each after being produced before Kaduwela Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe for operating an illegal online gambling operation in Pelawatta.

The suspects were arrested by Thalangama Police following a public tip-off, which led to a raid at a rented house in Akuregoda, where the group had allegedly been running the gambling racket via the internet.

Following the court proceedings, the Magistrate ordered that the suspects be detained at the Welisara Detention Camp until the fines are paid and extradition procedures are completed. Authorities confirmed that steps are being taken to deport the individuals after compliance with the court’s orders.

Police investigations into the source and network of the illegal operation are ongoing.
