No discussion on Port City Bill till SC determines constitutionality

The government has decided not to have any formal discussion on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill until the Supreme Court determines its constitutionality, informed sources said.

According to the sources, Education Minister G.L. Peiris informed the Cabinet yesterday (19) that the Attorney General had advised in this regard.

The opposition parties and some civil society groups have moved court against the bill which is now before Parliament. The court has already started hearing the case. (Kelum Bandara)
