New guidelines, instructions in the offing to restrict pregnant mothers recalling for duty: Pavithra

Steps were eing taken to issue a set of new guidelines and instructions to restrict pregnant mothers being recalled for duty, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said today.

She told Parliament that the guidelines and instructions were being prepared at the moment.

Responding to a question raised by Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, she said steps would be taken to ensure that pregnant mothers were not put into danger due to the prevailing Covid situation.

Both Government and Opposition MPs including Minister Mahinda Amaraweera raised concerns about recalling pregnant mothers for duty.
