Naval, fishing communities advised not to venture into sea until further notice: Met Dept.

Due to low-pressure area is currently formed in the sea area off the eastern coast of the island, naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankesanturai until further notice, the Meteorology Department said.

They also said that the present showery conditions are expected to enhance further over the sea areas around the island under the influence of the current low-pressure condition.

The wind could gather speed speed up to 60 to 65 km/h in above-sea areas.

The Department also mentioned that the sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankesanturai and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be sporadically rough.

Sudden gusty winds, very rough seas, and thundershowers could be expected. Therefore, the naval and fishing communities are advised to be vigilant over this, the Dept. stressed. (Chaturanga Samrawickrama)
